Your furnace or AC will not activate unless the control board is in place and connected. The control board is made to command the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the sensors as well as the air circulator all at once. The brand of board you choose should be compatible with both the brand and model of the unit you have installed. You must do some research upon choosing a board as a replacement because of the many variances of certain brands.
Some warnings of a barely functioning main circuit board
- System has flashing code shown somewhere on the board
- The board has to be turned off and back on many times a week for it to run
- The AC or furnace refuses to go period
